Nancy Drew (2007)Thursday, January 31st, 2008 |
This movie is about Nancy Drew going to Los Angeles California with her father, who was going there on business. While she was there she happened upon a mystery that involved a murdered movie actress, and her daughter. Nancy found out her her daughter was, when nobody even knew that the actress had any kids, and the actress’s daughter inherited all of the actress’s money. At the end of the movie, once they got back home, Ned and Nancy kissed for what I think was their first actual kiss, and right after their quick kiss Nancy’s father told her that she had a call from some people in Scotland, who were talking about the Loch Ness Monster and some missing diamonds. Ghost Rider (2007)Thursday, November 22nd, 2007 |
The Bottom LineIf you can get past the rather lame dialogue, a leading lady who’s only real point in being a part of the movie is to show off her cleavage, and Wes Bentley’s dull performance as the film’s major villain, then Ghost Rider’s really kind of fun. It’s much more of a campy good time than you’d expect and best of all, despite how the special effects look in the trailers and still photos, the CG work is first-rate and very believable. Well, maybe not ‘believable’ as much as realistically rendered.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)Monday, November 12th, 2007 |
All pretense at cuteness is gone in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, a spellbinding drama that’s edgier than the previous Harry Potter movies. The book itself is one of the more difficult Harry Potter novels to follow, with all of the characters’ backstories being further fleshed out in order to set up the final act we’re all sure is coming – the ultimate one on one showdown between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. However screenwriter Michael Goldenberg’s first crack at the series sheds all but the very essential plot points, focusing on Harry and his best friends as they prepare themselves to do battle.
