While Skrat the Saber Toothed Squirrel is still ineffectually trying to regain his precious acorn, the misfit trio of Manny the Mammoth, Sid the Sloth and Diego the Sabretooth Tiger have settled down in an isolated valley with numerous other animals. However, the trio discover that the ice wall surrounding the valley is barely holding back a massive body of water behind it and it’s melting state threatens to break and flood the valley. With their one chance of survival being a boat at the other end of the valley, the trio follow the desperate exodus there. Along the way, they meet Ellie, a female mammoth who is convinced she’s a opossum like her brothers. While the strange group continues the trek, they must learn to get along even as Manny struggles to find some connection to this strange female who may be the only other one of his kind. Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay launched a full out attack on moviegoers on May 25th. “Pearl Harbor” exploded onto the big screen with an impressive publicity campaign that had fans, websites, and other media outlets, counting down the days until its Memorial Day Weekend release. “Pearl Harbor’s” approved budget of $145 million made it the biggest movie budget ever to get greenlit. The approved $145 million had to be knocked down to $135 after Joe Roth left Disney to run Revolution Studios. Bay and Bruckheimer waived their front-end salaries to squeeze in under the new budget, and Ben Affleck agreed to work for the low upfront salary of $250,000, and a share of the profits - if there ends up being any. Moviegoers will ultimately determine whether the $135+ million budget was spent wisely, and whether the film is a rip-off of America’s history or a fitting tribute to the men and women who served our country during wartime.

The script begins as a young Hughes directs one of Scorsese’s favorite films, Hell’s Angels. Hughes was so obsessed with perfection in the aerial sequences that he waits forever for perfect conditions, right down to cloud formations. So what if they had to reshoot scenes, change the ending, and move its original release date from early September 2001 to June 14, 2002? Though many times substantial changes to a film or its release date can be the kiss of death, “The Bourne Identity” rises above it all to provide killer entertainment (I use the word ‘killer’ meaning great - I’m trying to get into the spirit of an action film).

Leslie’s arch-rival, the mustached and black-attired Professor Fate vows to beat Leslie to the finish line in a car of Fate’s own invention. The Blake Edwards style of slapstick and song originated with this movie. A dedication to Laurel and Hardy appears at the beginning of the film. Edwards’ tribute to Stan and Ollie can be seen most clearly in the interaction between Professor Fate and his cohort Max, as well as in the operatic Pottsdorf pie fight.
