“This Summer It’s All About Sticking Together.”

Movie sequels are always a scary proposition. If the original was good enough to deserve a sequel, then the sequel will be fighting an uphill battle to be just as entertaining. Fans have high expectations - as they should - of films that continue where their favorites left off. Studios should feel a sense of obligation to not just cash in on the original’s success, but to place the best possible follow-up product on the market. Too many sequels skate by on the original’s merits, and never even attempt to come close to providing quality entertainment. That said - “American Pie 2” does come as close as possible to delivering the goods.

While traveling on vacation to Florida, the college friends Anderson Lee, Cory Jones and Nelson Elliot meet the gorgeous Joey and Kat in a gas station traveling with their gay friend Ricky to the same location. Anderson gives his phone number to Joey in Florida. The teenagers decide to take a shortcut and they find a detour through an old road leading to the Southern town of Pleasant Valley. They are welcomed by the local Mayor Buckman as guests of honor together with Joey, Kat, Ricky and the Afro-American biker Malcolm and his Chinese girlfriend Leah and invited to stay for their Guts and Glory Jubilee with free lodging, meals and booze at Granny Boone’s hotel, and dancing, games and a mouth-watering barbecue in the climax of the jubilee. The idea for “40 Days and 40 Nights” sprang from the real-life diary of screenwriter, Robert Perez. Described as a “no sex” sex comedy, the film’s leading man (Josh Hartnett) swears off not just sex, but kissing, touching, self-gratification - all things sexual - for Lent (hence the title).

Long ago in the Iron Age a shadow loomed over a lonely village. For generations the village youths are stolen from their families and delivered as sacrifice to a mythical beast - the Minotaur, that dwells beneath a great palace. Theo, haunted by the loss of his love in an earlier sacrifice is convinced that the beast isn’t real and that his girl still lives as a slave within the palace. His father Cyrnan, the village leader, tries to reason with Theo not to go but Theo is driven by blind rage. The gang from Dorm Daze is back, but this time they’re on a cruise ship on a tropical voyage through the high seas. The cruise makes an educational stop at the island of San Paradiso, where the students are supposed to explore an important archaeological site. In this comedy drama is based on the true story, a group of teenager students stand up for their rights against the Principal Weller (Julie Bowien), who is an ambitious but hard-headed leader of Booker High school. She is going to run for the superintendent’s chair, so she needs to project the image of a no-nonsense leader. She begins to turn the screws on: prohibits a girl to recognize National Safe Sex Day distributing condoms, and turns out two boys who are caught kissing in the hallway between classes. Students have an ally teacher helping them to struggle despotism, who soon gets fired for questioning Weller’s authority. Together the students organize the student body to take on Weller and make real change at their high-school.

Read the synopsis of “Rent” and ‘sexy, spectacular, and one of the best movies of 2005’ may not be the words that immediately come to mind. But don’t make the mistake of judging “Rent” by the few lines used to sum up the film in the movie’s official synopsis. “Rent” can’t be defined in a matter of 25 words or less. There’s so much going on, so much to take in, it requires you to sit back and absorb the experience. And what an experience it is.

A former rockstar Johnny Boz is brutally killed during sex , and the case is assigned to the Detective Nick Curran of the SFPD .
