Hilary Duff stars in this great film about a teen age girl who is very upset about her brother’s death in a car crash. Terri (Hilary Duff) has a love of singing and making up her own songs. Her brother (before his death) secretly submits a DVD of her singing to a musical contest down in L.A. Her father doesn’t want her to go, but secretly her mom lets her go and everything goes fine, except she has stage fright. She gets through her stage fright with the help of her new friend Jay. At the end of the contest everyone at the musical school have to perform something. And if they win, they win a scholarship along with it. Her dad finds out, comes down to L.A. and makes her go home! The psychiatric intern Clark Stevens (Joshua Leonanrd) comes to Cunningham Hall, a mental healthy facility administrated by Dr. Franks (Lance Henriksen), for a training period before his graduation in medical college. I find it really strange anyone would watch “The Punisher” and come out upset about the film’s violence. Come on. Did anyone seriously believe a movie called “The Punisher” would be about kitty cats and dandelions? Watch the trailer or pick up the comic book the movie’s based on and it’s readily apparent this isn’t your average ‘fun’ comic book subject. Speaking of comic books, it’s time to issue my disclaimer: Yada, yada, yada, I don’t know anything about comic books, yada, yada, yada, don’t expect this review to compare and contrast the source material to the movie, and so on. From what I gather from my limited research into the realm of comics, “The Punisher” in comic book form is a dark tale, as is the movie.

This is the story of two brothers named Danny and Walter who barely get along even while driving their parents to distraction as their older sister tries to ignore them. While they played this old mechanical board game known as Zathura. However, after when the boys did their very first move, they find out that the game has flung them, not including their sister and their entire house are eventually drawn into an epic adventure when their house is magically hurtled through space. But in order to get back home they must continue to play the game. During the course of the story, the boys must overcome their personal ill-feeling held toward one another in order to survive. They are aided in this by a stranded derelict astronaut who appears as a result of the game. This astronaut is eventually revealed to be an older version of Walter, who had been trapped as a character in the game’s world as a result of causing the disappearance of Danny, without whom he was no longer a player. Alex is boarding his place to France on a school trip, when he suddenly gets a premonition that the plane will explode. When Alex and a group of students are thrown off the plane, to their horror, the plane does in fact explode. Alex must not work out Death’s plan, as each of the surviving students fall victim. “Serenity” is a wild, white-knuckle roller coaster ride set in the future where the heroes are deeply conflicted, people do whatever they have to – even if it’s illegal - just to survive, and if you want to cuss at someone, you do it in a foreign language so there’s no need to cover the ears of small children.
