Tyrants - Monsters - Heroes - Ear Wax.

This is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in years. It’s also one of the sweetest romances. Who would have thought that a huge, ugly, bug-eating, tube-eared, gassy green ogre could be so loveable? Mike Myers voice was the perfect match for this animated creature, though personally I believe Eddie Murphy stole the show with his Donkey doings.

Ted was a geek in high school, who was going to go to the prom with one of the most popular girls in school, Mary. The prom date never happened, because Ted had a very unusual accident. Thirteen years later he realizes he is still in love with Mary, so he hires a private investigator to track her down. That investigator discovers he too may be in love with Mary, so he gives Ted some false information to keep him away from her. “Grind” sets out to authentically portray the skater lifestyle but unfortunately loses its way after the first half hour or so. What starts out as a promising buddy/road trip movie soon deteriorates into one of the most disjointed comedies (I’m using that term very loosely) of the year. “Grind” is funny when it doesn’t intend to be, and too often falls flat when it does go for the laugh.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is a tale of adventure on the open road.
