The sea underworld is shaken up when the son of the shark mob boss is found dead and a young fish named Oscar is found at the scene. Being a bottom feeder, Oscar takes advantage of the situation and makes himself look like he killed the finned mobster. Oscar soon comes to realize that his claim may have serious consequences. During an attack on a pack of Iguanodon, an egg is separated and ends up with the possession of a group of lemurs. The lemurs care for this egg and the young creature born from it, which they call Aladar. When a meteor shower hits earth, Aladar and his family must leave their homeland. Away from home and as close to danger as they have ever been, they meet up with a huge group of dinosaurs, led by Kron and Bruton. Don’t let the trailers and video clips fool you. “Robots” isn’t just a goofy kids movie. The trailers don’t begin to do justice to this deliciously entertaining, wildly energetic animated film. Even without the many recognizable names in the voice cast (Ewan McGregor, Robin Williams, and Halle Berry are just a sampling of the stars who contribute their voices), “Robots” would be a must-see for those who are looking for a little escapism via the movies.

The big question is, who is this movie’s target audience? “Valiant” doesn’t have the double entendres adults get a kick out of in animated movies. It’s not funny enough and it doesn’t feature enough goofball characters for little kids, and teens won’t find much to connect with in a movie about carrier pigeons set during World War II. Maybe the studio is aiming for the senior crowd. I just really don’t know who is going to be interested in watching a semi-serious animated bird movie.
