Directed by Roger Donaldson (The Recruit, World’s Fastest Indian) from a screenplay by Ian Lafrenais and Dick Clement (the team behind Across the Universe and The Commitments), The Bank Job allows the audience an inside peek at an event covered up by those Brits with the power to hush up things that might cause the Royals to get their regal panties in an uproar. Although some of the story may not connect with American audiences (unless you happen to be up on the intricacies of the British police and government), the can of worms opened up by the bank robbers is easy enough to sift through no matter what your nationality. Between hot action sequences featuring wild boat rides through the canals of Venice, chase scenes involving the coolest little cars on wheels, and an intricately planned act of revenge lies a film filled with snappy dialogue and smart acting.

The last time we saw Danny Ocean’s crew, they were paying back ruthless casino mogul Terry Benedict after stealing millions from him. However, it’s been a while since they’ve come back together, which is all about to change. When one of their own, Reuben Tishkoff builds a hotel with known casino owner Willy Banks, the last thing he ever wanted was to get cut out of the deal personally by the loathsome Banks. Banks’ attitude even goes so far as to finding the amusement in Tishkoff’s misfortune when the double crossing lands Reuben in the hospital because of a heart attack. However, Danny and his crew won’t stand for Banks and what he’s done to a friend. Uniting with their old enemy Benedict, who himself has a vendetta against Banks, the crew is out to pull off a major plan.
